(Montreal: E. Tisizi) The “Marti bracelet” is an ancient custom for the beginning of Spring. The name is derived from the Greek word for the month of March. As of March 1st, it is tradition to wear a bracelet made of twisted white & red thread. The white symbolizes purity & the red stands for life & passion. Children wear the bracelet from March to April, removing it on Easter day. After taking it off, it’s custom to hang it in a fruit tree, so the tree can remain healthy & give many fruits during the season. The LEM wishes you a wonderful March & a lot of sunny days to come.
Το βραχιόλι του Μάρτη είναι ένα έθιμο για την αρχή της άνοιξης. Την πρώτη Μαρτίου, είναι παράδοση να φοράμε ένα βραχιόλι φτιαγμένο από στριμμένη άσπρη και κόκκινη κλωστή. Το άσπρο συμβολίζει την αγνότητα και το κόκκινο συμβολίζει την ζωή και το πάθος. Βγάζουμε το βραχιόλι το Πάσχα.
